Bitfreighter's 2nd Annual Karen Cameron ALS Golf Tournament

On August 12th, 2023, we had the honor of hosting our 2nd Annual Karen Cameron ALS Golf Tournament, bringing together over 150 attendees from across the freight industry for a day of networking, learning, and supporting a cause close to our hearts.

Why ALS?

This year's tournament held special significance for the bitfreighter family. We proudly announced the official renaming of the event to "The Karen Cameron ALS Golf Tournament" in memory of Karen Cameron, mother-in-law of our Co-Founder and CEO, Brad Perling, who recently lost her battle with ALS. This renaming serves as a tribute to Karen's legacy and our commitment to advancing ALS research.

Victory!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our attendees, sponsors, and partners, we're thrilled to announce that we met our fundraising goal, raising $25,000 for The ALS Association!! This achievement wouldn't have been possible without the support of our 28 amazing sponsors:

Your support means the world to us and, more importantly, to those fighting ALS every day.

Highlights from the Green

The tournament was a true success, with fierce but friendly competition on the course. Congratulations to our tournament winners from Stevens Trucking and Hoplite Logistics: Shawn Hunter, Alex Polston, Rich Krul, and Peter Casanova! Well done gentlemen!

Let’s Talk Tech Stack

We're passionate about education and advancing the industry. Our speaker moderator, Nate Schutes, did an outstanding job keeping the day's proceedings running smoothly. Pre tournament -  we had an industry panel featuring our own Dave McCoy (VP of Sales at Bitfreighter), along with John Sutton the Director of Corporate Strategy at Sunset Transportation and Mike Heindselman the Senior Director at Orbis. Sharing valuable insights on current freight trends and emerging technologies while sparking engaging discussions among attendees.

The Networking

Throughout the day, attendees had numerous opportunities to network, share ideas, and forge new connections. As a freight integration company, we understand the importance of these interactions in driving our industry forward. It was inspiring to see so many professionals coming together, united by a common cause and a shared passion for innovation in freight.

Looking Ahead

The success of this event has only fueled our enthusiasm for the future. We're excited to announce that the 3rd Annual Karen Cameron ALS Golf Tournament is already scheduled for August 25th, 2025. Mark your calendars – we can't wait to see you there!

From the bottom of our hearts💚…

To everyone who participated, sponsored, or supported this event in any way – thank you. Your generosity and commitment have made a real difference, not just in raising funds for ALS research, but in strengthening the bonds within our industry.

A special shout-out goes to Kennedy Phalen and Stephanie Valencia from the ALS Association for their hard work and for braving the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on the course!

Last but not least, we want to acknowledge our incredible bitfreighter team. Nearly our entire staff was present, showcasing their dedication to this cause and to our company values. (We missed you, Eric Workman and Tymon Tobolski!)

As we reflect on this successful event, we're reminded of why we do what we do at bitfreighter. Our mission goes beyond providing cutting-edge integration technology for freight brokerages. It's about fostering an environment where questions can be asked and answered, where we can learn from each other, and where we can come together to make a difference in the lives of others.

The world is rapidly digitizing, and the freight industry is no exception. By providing spaces for education, networking, and philanthropy, we hope to empower our industry to make informed decisions and drive positive change.

Thank you once again to everyone who made the 2nd Annual Karen Cameron ALS Golf Tournament a resounding success. Together, we're not just moving freight – we're moving forward in the fight against ALS.

See you next year!
